Savor the Season

November 22, 2022

It’s time to celebrate the season; for many, that also means lots of family, friends, and parties. The holiday season brings tasty treats, late nights, and opportunities to overindulge. It’s a fantastic time of year to share and bring us together in the spirit of giving and gratitude. And, although it’s a time of celebration, the holidays can also be a stressful time of year. In addition to stress, many also lose track of their fitness and gain unwanted holiday pounds.

This year learn to manage holiday stress, maintain your fitness, and start the new year on track to hit all your health goals. It’s easy to enjoy the holiday season without sacrificing all the flavors and positive experiences of this magical time of year. Enhance your holiday season with these five tips!

1. Make time for movement.

Exercise, even small amounts, is an exceptional tool to reduce anxiety and stress. Use the 15-minute rule; commit to all least 15 minutes daily; it can be a walk, time at the gym, yoga, or anything that gets you moving.

2. Commit to smaller portion sizes

Celebrate all the season’s flavors; just do it in smaller sizes. It’s ok to savor the flavor; just limit portions to half. Salad plates are a perfect size!

3. Prioritize your schedule.

Time is the most precious resource; use it wisely and schedule events that bring you the greatest joy. Choose holiday parties that allow you to connect with the most important people in your life.

4. Sleep tight

Sleep is one of the most essential components of health and profoundly impacts well-being and state of mind. Keep your holidays on track by setting and keeping a sleep schedule. Create a blue light-free bedroom that allows for a night of quality sleep.

5.  Keep a gratitude journal.

It’s the season of gratitude and giving. Taking time each day to reflect and acknowledge all the things, big and small, we’re grateful for reminds us of the most essential things in life.

Remember, it’s the perfect time of year to express gratitude and give yourself a stress-reduced holiday season. Enjoy the season, savor the flavor, explore winter wonderlands, and wake up each morning eager to share with those you love most.
